Want to post/advertise a personal site? Hey, this place is as good as any.

A podcast series by Steve Libbey and Mercedes Lackey.

The homepage of our founder, Steve Libbey. Steve's off writing with Misty and on his own projects, but he still kicks around on the RPC site now and then.

Wiki Notes

Normally, the Community Portal would act as the bulletin board and communications hub to get the word out to the members of a Wiki. We already have that in the RP Congress Forums. If you have any questions, comments or need help with the RPC Wiki, please post your comments here or here.

Also please note our policy about posting entries here. The long and short of it: spammers and jerks will be booted.

Careful with the typos

The biggest problem with Wikis doesn't seem to be the scare of trolling or even the errors that will inevitably crop up in the torrent of information dumped on the site. The saved history of any entry allows for easy reversals of damaged pages and errors can be edited by any that chance upon them through open editing.

No, the biggest problem seems to be typos.

Typos can send pages into a classification limbo, or cause problems with entry titles. Typos in the main body of a edit window are easy enough to fix. But say you mistakenly title a page rED dJINNI instead of Red Djinni. The page is made and can only be deleted by an sysop.

So here's a couple of tips:

  1. When you search for a page to see if it exists yet, make sure you spell it right! That includes capitalizations. Don't use any characters you wouldn't want to appear in the actual listings. The wiki is extremely sensitive - what you type in will be exactly what you get.
  2. Make sure when you are entering in the archetype category to use the plural form of the word. For example, Blasters not Blaster. If you make Blaster your category, your entry won't be listed in the root directory under Blasters.
  3. After you make your entry, look it over, especially all the links. Click the show previews option and look over the entry. Make sure the page is titled the way you want it. Make sure all your links work. Make sure clicking the categories you have tagged will direct you to the premade categories off the main page. In the case of SG categories, you may be directed to a blank page. Either there is a typo in the SG name as you have entered it, or no one has made the SG page yet. If the latter, talk to your SG leader or Red Djinni (reddjinni@gmail.com) to set something up.

Typos are inevitable and can suck large. Proofreading (especially getting someone else to proofread) is always a good idea.
